2007 QB Combine News
The dates for the 2007 Junior Combine were confirmed Monday at the Maryland High School Football Coaches Association meeting, held at Hammond High School.
In the first meeting for the 2006-2007 school year, coaches overwhelmingly voted to hold the Combine on March 25 at M&T Bank Stadium. The three votes against March 25 had to due with weather considerations.
Due to NCAA regulations, combines no longer can be held at NCAA Division I schools, therefore, this annual event usually held at the University of Maryland needed a new home.
Joe Russo, president of the state coaches association, worked out arrangement with the Baltimore Ravens to hold the combine at the stadium. The catch - the combine needed to be on a Sunday that the Orioles, which use the neighboring parking area, were out of town. That left the only viable dates as March 25 and May 20th. (All of April was out due to Easter and O's home games.)
The current plan is to hold the Junior Combine on March 25 with April 15 as the rain date at a high school facility yet to be determined.
* The NATS Combine, which takes the top 300 performers from the Junior Combine, will be either May 20, 27 or June 3 - date to be confirmed in February.
